Soft Skills :Gujarat

Soft Skill:

To understand soft skill first of all let us understands “Hard Skills”. A mechanic handling machine, an electrician handling complex electric connection, an aeronautical handling airplane, a TV repairer handling TV, a plumber handling the pipes, a mason dong the work of cementing are the skill directly related to the work and the expertise of these kind are termed as hard skills.
You will also come across people who are very cool in the pressure; there are people who will present their ideas in a very convincing way. There are people who are extra polite and grow up steadily in life. There are people who have tremendous command on language especially English. There are people who are very comfortable in discussion or in interview whereas there are some who can get the new job easily. These all are “Soft Skills” very rarely taught however the same can be developed if methodically and consciously groomed after understanding the importance of the same.
These days to progress in life we require not only:
a.     IQ :Intelligent Quotient
b.     EQ:Emotional Quotient but also
c.      SQ: Soft skill quotient or Spiritual quotient.
Let us highlight some of these skills:
A.SELF MANAGEMENT SKILLS:
1. Self Awareness-knowing what drives, angers, motivates, embarrasses, frustrates, and inspires you.
2. Emotion management-being able to control unexpected emotions like anger and frustration so you can think clearly and at you optimum.
3. Self Confidence-those who believe in themselves have access to “Unlimited power”.
4. Stress management –being able to stay calm and balanced in stressful overwhelming situations.
5. Resilience-ability to bounce back from a misstep in your job or a career.
6. Persistence and perseverance-ability to overcome challenging situations and obstacles and maintain the same energy.
7. Patience ability to step back in an emergency to think clearly or the ability to pause and wait when you are in a rush or want to rush others.

B. PEOPLE SKILLS;

1. Communication skills:-skills to listen and articulate your ideas in writing and verbally to any audience in a way where you are heard and you achieve the goals you intended with that communication.
2. Presentation skills.
3. Facilitating skills ability to co ordinate and ability to get feedback.
4. Interviewing skills (Facing and taking an interview)
5. Marketing” Self “skills.
6. Persuasion skills.
7. Team work skills
8. Leadership skills
9 Skills in dealing with difficult personalities/situations.
10. Networking skills.
11. Ability to think.
12. Negotiation skills
13. Mentoring skills
14. Organizing skills
15. Savvy in handling office politics.

Why this is required?

Due to fierce competition, there are many factors working in getting a job, maintaining a job and growing in a job. Whereas hard skill gives you a job, soft skill help you maintain, survive and grow in the job.

Why Gujarat?

It has been observed and surveyed that a resident or a student of Gujarat is very good in hard skill but when it comes to presentation or any other aspects of soft skills they are little minus than students of other state. It was okay when whole generation was into a business, but these days with a professionalization across the world, kids want to enjoy corporate life. Here an average Gujarati fails. There is a void of institution which can groom students on these aspects, hence this project.

Gujarat is already having ‘SCOPE’, an organization for empowering Gujarati youth for speaking English which is very necessary component of soft skill.
When India is the only country having population of 35% in youth, Why Gujarat should not empower Gujarati youth to an international skills.

What is the Modus operandi? ( Small Scale)

This is a 30/50/70 hour modules which covers all major soft skill parameters making students more employable with a frequency of Crash/Staggered period. The training can be imparted at the college premises or at the designated centers of the organization.

Who are the trainers?

The trainers are the blend of industry and academic orientation. They have themselves been the employee and later an employer to understand both the aspects of industry as well as the student.

BACK FROM AUSTRALIA,TRULY ASIA

I really wonder many a times as to why and how the God has decided my destiny, especially from the corporate world to academic to spirituality.Net result is the gain I have of some outstanding relations during the journey of the life.Persons like,Dhaval,Amit,Palak,Sangitaben,Tushar,Keyur who otherwise would not have come in my life and made me realize some of the hidden mysteries of  the Power of unseen world of spirituality and my contribution to the same. There are many who have become part of the phenomena known as "spirituality" and aides me to understand Super power with ease.

My trip to Sydney along with my team members, was an outstanding success.I was astonished by their faith in our spirituality and the effort by Sri Mandir in nurturing the same is an outstanding phenomena. I was happy to see young ones obeying and respecting the process of "Puja",the Recitation of Sunderkand and the rush for participating in SUNDERKAND HAVAN' .IT TOOK ME ONLY FEW SECOND TO UNDERSTAND '"WHY".

I was so happy to see people especially young ones thronging to listen to my "Power of Mantra" and "The Scientific Sunderkand"This has nothing to do with my ability. All because of the power of the Unseen "GOD'',PARAMATMAN ' or whatever you call it.It was so nice to guide them how to use this power for building up your career. This is the ultimate satisfaction you have on the reasons for your 'BEING' on his earth.

I got the reply of the question that I posed in the beiginning of writing this blog.

WHAT MAKES STUDENT CHANGE:

Having interacted with the students of X,XII,First year degree Engineering students,Final Year Engineering students, Final year Diploma Engineering students,MBA students,I have following observations based on the body language during my sessions of Career Planning especially English and also Placement Grooming.

1.The body language of students of X and XII is so intense especially their eagerness to know about career, that you feel very passionate of taking up this as a career.I love them

2.The first year engineering students are so casual that you feel to run away from the reactions they give during you session and opt out from this career.

a.Whispering Murmuring.

b.At times walking out from the class.

c.No anxiety when you ask "Any Question?"

d.The moment you close they run as if they were jailed and now freed.

3.Final year degree engineering students some are curious but they could not ask, especially they feel ashamed when few 1% of the total show casual approach. They fear being laughed at by the colleague. They lack initiative.About 10% are a typical students showing hooting and whispering attitude carry with them another 5% and run away from the reality.

4.Diploma final year engineering students. They not only are eager but shows a gesture of 'thank you' by asking question, accepting the challenge and responding, despite they have communication fear .They normally are not ashamed of being laughed at.I love them

5.MBA students from any college are victim of  " I M OKAY"  attitude. They feel by default they are special breed who can dictate terms any where. In the process they feel ashamed in asking any questions or even opting for  a career which can be the steeping stone. They feel they  cannot work below "... amount. The result is that those students who are at the bank are carried away for no reason.

I fail to understand why this is happening. Why a n intense student of X and XII suddenly suffer from such "Attitude".Don't you feel it speak something about our college education ,especially higher education in technical study as well as other?

Engineers.

I am many times surprised by the attitude of the youth.I always thought that the engineering students are very conscious and cautious about their career especially those who are in the final year. But the fact is different.Even they suffer from a typical 'Virus' prevalent in Gujarat. Some how I feel, we all , the society at large and we as an individual  have not inculcated some values in them. .In the bid to care for our sons and daughter we give them the best education but we forget to give them the knowledge.

Youth of today  especially of Gujarat

1.Lack patience.
2.Takes life very casually.
3.Underestimate everybody but self.
4.Do not have normal courtesy.
5.Ready to criticize everybody but cant digest criticism.
6.Attitude of "Cross the bridge when it comes to"or "Padse eva Dekhashe."
7.Ready to give opinion without asking.
8.Ready to show likes and Dislikes.
9.Lack of concentration.
10 Believe in Mobocracy.

With my little exposure of interacting with the youth I try my best.OH GOD GIVE ME POWER TO FIGHT MY OWN SELF RESPECT ATTRIBUTE TO DIGEST THE INSULT THEY GIVE TO ME WHEN I AM ON THIS MISSION.

  1. HR LEARNING

Life is the greatest institute and deemed university where you can yourself give Bachelor,Master M Phil and PhD degrees yourself in Human Relations.

    There are
1.Some people who would like them to be heard by everybody, take interest in them but they don't learn in reciprocating in fact they don't want to especially if you tell them some good about you.

2.There are some who do not take interest in anybody and do not like people to take interest in them ,but when when you tell something good about you they reciprocate with a deep feeling of envy and show displeasure by not reciprocating.

3.There are some who would like to be heard and cared but do not always know how to reciprocate.

    4. There are some who may like to be heard or not,but are always courteous enough to show their happiness when you tell something good about you and in fact go out of way in trying to support you by their contribution. (10%).

It is because of this 10% people the world is surviving. HATS OFF AND KEEP IT UP.

FEELING ASHAMED

I really feel ashamed when being part of major community of India I have to live with the Tag of Hindu Terrorist .

When the world highlights the names of the terrorist being from one particular community ,our politicians teach us not to attach the community for the same.We accept.

Same politician though being part of same community easily can name whole community based on few examples.I know he is not ashamed but I am .He uses for his benefit but does not know what harm he is doing. In fact we cannot solve terrorism till we have such breed of people. It is this proud country India which has tolerated people like him.Imagine any Amercian will speak about his fellow Amercians ?Or for that matter anybody in middle east.?

Enough is enough.

MISCHIEF MARKETING

We know the concept of Mischief Marketing. It makes us laugh but still the message is conveyed. It seems political and some of religious leader have taken this route for marketing themselves. You daily find some new controversial statement by either religious or political leader.Innocent people like us feel that this is a slip of tongue and great mistake. However ,you do not find any denial from any one.Actually this is today's marketing. We were not knowing many of them ,but after such statement they have become so popular. This is the marketing.
